Tips for Selling your Dress!

July 22nd, 2011

When selling your dress, it is important to get the most out of your listing. This way brides can easily find your dress, and they are given enough information for their decision.

1. If you know what your dress is called, list that. For example, Melissa Sweet is the designer, and the dress is called, “Uma”.

2. Post as many photos and in the best quality possible. Be aware of all the various angles of the dress and be sure to include them all. Include real wedding photos if possible. Make sure to get the back, sides and even the dress in motion if possible.

3. Include all the details! The way Smart Bride works is by process of elimination. Filling in each question about the dress ensures the buyer will find your dress if that is what they are searching for. Also, include as many details as possible about the dress, the size, the way it was cleaned and basically everything else!

4. Last up, SHARE! Tweet your listing, facebook your listing and do whatever else you can to make it known. This will ensure your dress is as exposed to brides as possible.

Good Luck!

Why Buy a Recyled Wedding Dress?

September 17th, 2010

We all seem to be in the same boat here, trying to plan a wedding with an economy as it is and people putting a bit more focus on their spending habits. This is definitely not a bad thing. Before, it felt like a rampant spending spree in which what people had determined how much money they have. This more modest approach of “I know how much I have in savings and it is not worth it to spend it on blah” is actually a great way of thinking. It leads toward security and stability in the short and long term.

How does that translate into a wedding? In every single regard. Instead of racking up each credit card to the limit just to show off your wedding (that in reality you couldn;t afford) is a terrible way to start married life. Credit card debt, money stress, etc is something that will never make for a happy home. But who can resist, those weddings are phenomenal. So what is the solution? It’s time to be incredibly creative.

This can be done by opting for DIY projects instead of purchasing things. If done right it will save money and make the wedding a bit more personal. Purchasing a recycled dress is another way to cut literally thousands. If you are like me, some cheap $500 dress isn’t really going to cut it. I wanted a dress that stood out and that made me feel amazing. That always comes with a pricetag, and for me that pricetag was a bit higher than I ever ever would have pictured myself spending. Finding the dress used can literally save you a few thousand dollars and you still get the dress you really wanted.

Brides need to stick together and help each other out a bit more. Selling excess supplies for a DIY project, selling a dress for cheaper, helping each other find the best deals on vendors in the area, that’s what it is all about! We really need to start helping each other out so we can each have the wedding of our dreams without spending more than we need to!

Tips to Sell your Dress on Smart Bride

March 25th, 2010

Show it Off:

Posting an ample amount of photos of your dress is better. The more you post, the better idea a person can get of the dress and all the different views. After your wedding you are bound to have tons of photos of you in your dress, in ALL different angles, so give people a real idea of your gown.

Models are no Substitute for the Real Thing:

Posting pics from the designer’s collection photo shoot will give people some what of an idea of the dress design, but it is no substitute for the real thing! So it is time for you to be the model to show your dress in your size, on you (while also giving people a little glimpse of your gorgeous wedding!). The more the buyer can see the real dress, the better chance you will have of getting some interest.

Fill In the Blanks:

Give people as much information as possible about your dress. Fill in all the blanks so you end up in more searches and so that potential buyers can get the true look and feel of your dress!

Promote It!

Tell everyone you know about it. If someone is interested in purchasing your dress, send over the Smart Bride link so they can get all the details. That will save you time and effort and makes it easier for the buyer as well! Tell your Twitter followers, post it on Craigslist, Wedding Bee, etc etc.  Smart Bride is completely free for you as a seller, so use it as a place to store all the info you want about the dress, then send people to the link to check it out!

November 28th, 2008

Right now Smartbride is looking for used dresses.  Do you have a wedding dress that’s collecting dust under your bed?  Why not sell it and use the money for your honeymoon, your home, or something special you’ve been wanting to buy. :-)

The best thing about Smartbride, is you can sell your gown at zero cost.  There is no cost to buyers or sellers.  Why pay to sell your dress when you can do it here for free?  If you’ve already got your gown posted on a paid site, you can also sell your dress here and cover extra ground.
